The 2014 Consensus Conference on Nutrition was held May 14-16, 2014 at The Population Health Research Institute - 20 Copeland Avenue, Hamilton, Ontario, Canada.
Diet and food policies affecting cardiovascular disease globally: A joint conference of the World Heart Federation (WHF) and the Canadian Academy of Health Sciences (CAHS)
WHF and CAHS are committed to ensuring transparency, independence, objectivity, and scientific rigor in relation to the content of meeting presentations and any publications arising from the 2014 Consensus Conference on Nutrition. In this regard, the following guiding principles have been developed:
The conference organizing committee will act independently of all conference funders and will not include representatives of any funder on the organizing committee.
The identities of the conference funders and the organizing committee members will be transparent and readily accessible (e.g. conference website and handouts at the meeting).
While suggestions for topics and speakers from all sources will be considered, decisions regarding the content of the meeting and the speakers will be made solely by the organizing committee.
The conference agenda will be transparent, updated as required and readily accessible (e.g. conference website).
All organizing committee members, session chairs, facilitators and speakers will provide detailed disclosures of potential conflicts of interest, which will be presented at the meeting and readily accessible (e.g. conference website).
The organizing committee will make significant efforts to include speakers with a range of views to enable full discussion of available evidence.
The conference agenda will include sufficient time for, and encouragement of, questions and open discussion.
Sessions will be chaired by experts who do not have a pre-set position with respect to the session's focus.
All speakers, chairs, and facilitators will have the opportunity to provide feedback regarding the preparation of summary materials and reports arising from the conference.
All participants will have the opportunity to provide comments on draft publications prior to publication. Decisions about final content of publications will be made by the publication working groups, after review of all comments.
